How can I insert a picture into a webpage?
You can insert pictures in any report, view, or spreadsheet page.
To create a blank "Spreadsheet Page":
- Run Web Designer
- Select "Insert - Spreadsheet page" on the "MENU" menu.
- Click the option "Blank- Spreadsheet page. Many Columns", and click the [Create Sheet] button.
You now have a blank sheet you can type text in or insert
pictures.
To insert a picture:
- Click and drag to highlight the cells you wish to insert the picture in.
- Pull down the INSERT menu and select "Picture"
- On your harddisk find the picture you wish to insert and open it.
The picture is now on the sheet.
Note: Valid picture files for putting on the web have the
extension "*.GIF" GIF Images and "*.jpg" (JPEG) images.
How can I insert a link (hyperlink) to another page?
You can insert a link (hyperlink) to any other page on your website (or Internet) in any report, view, or spreadsheet page.
To create a blank "Spreadsheet Page":
- Run Web Designer
- Select "Insert - Spreadsheet page" on the "MENU" menu.
- Click the option "Blank- Spreadsheet page. Many Columns", and click the [Create Sheet] button.
You now have a blank sheet you can type text in, insert pictures or links to other pages.
To insert a hyperlink:
- Click the cell you wish to insert the hyperlink in.
- Pull down the INSERT menu and select "Hyperlink"
- Type in the "Text to display" and select the page to link to. You can link to any page in your website, OR any page on the Internet.
How do I import an Excel or Text file into my website?
Website Designer can import 2 types of files/documents.
- Excel (Spreadsheet Documents)
or - Text (Documents)
How to Import from Microsoft Excel
To import an Excel file into the Website Designer.
- Run the Website Designer.
Create an empty page to import the Excel file to.
- Select "Insert - Spreadsheet page" on MENU menu.
- Check "Blank-Spreadsheet Page", and click [Create Sheet] button.
- Give menu item a name and click OK.
Import the Excel file to this blank sheet.
- Pull down the SPREADSHEET menu and select "Import Excel file into sheet"
- Navigate to the folder in which you saved the Excel file, and double-click it to import.
- Excel sheet is now on webpage.
How to Import a Text Document from Microsoft Word
Any Word processor can save a document as a TEXT file. To save your document as a text file....
- Load your document into Word.
- Select "Save As" on the FILE menu.
- On the "Save as" form, select "Plain Text (*.txt)" in the "Save as Type" drop down box.
- Also give the file a name, and select an appropriate directory to save the file in, then click the SAVE button.
The document is now saved as a text file.
How to Import a Text file into Website Designer.
- Run the Website Designer.
Create an empty page to import Text file to.
- Select "Insert - Spreadsheet page" on MENU menu.
- Check "Blank-Text Sheet", and click [Create Sheet] button.
- Give menu item a name and click OK.
Import the text file to this blank sheet.
- Pull down the SPREADSHEET menu and select "Import Text file into sheet"
- Navigate to the folder in which you saved the text file, and double-click it to import.
- Text is now on webpage.
Word Wrap in a Text File
Browsers do not "word wrap" text files. A new line occurs only where a carriage return occurs. Press the ENTER key to insert a carriage return. To see how your text file will appear in a browser, click the "Preview Website" button at anytime.Note: A Spreadsheet page does wrap text.
