Data Transfer Options
We can help you with your data transfer needs from other products. Only organizations that have purchased both the Unlimited Handicap System AND Unlimited Tournament Manager software qualify for our free transfer service.
If data requires significant manual manipulation to prepare it in a readable format, a transfer fee may apply. The minimum fee for helping you import such data is $50. The fee may be more depending on how "irregular" your data file is and the size of your file(s).
What the Software Can Currently Do
League Manager, Tournament Manager and Handicap System can all import data. The data must be in ASCII delimited format. The delimiter can be a comma, tab, space, etc. In addition to the delimiter, the data must be configured so that each data record must be on one row. The below samples show what will work and what will not:
Acceptable data file format
The following file has one header line (row), identifying information on each row (data record) and each row is a complete data record.
| Date | First | Last | Score | Rating | Slope |
| 1/28/09 | Jim | Smith | 87 | 71.5 | 121 |
| 2/8/09 | Jim | Smith | 81 | 71.5 | 121 |
| 2/18/09 | Jim | Smith | 71 | 70.3 | 118 |
| 1/15/09 | George | Brown | 82 | 69.7 | 110 |
| 2/2/09 | George | Brown | 70.8 | 87 | 113 |
| 1/18/09 | Richard | Hayes | 79 | 71.3 | 132 |
| 2/3/09 | Richard | Hayes | 83 | 71.3 | 123 |
Data file format that will not work
The following file does not have identifying information on each row and has "header" lines or rows throughout the data. This type of irregular file, as well as others that do not have complete data (identifying information as well as the data) on each row require us to write a custom application for importation.

What Do I Need to Do?
Send us the data you wish us to import. Note that a fee may apply if the data file you send is in irregular format. Please see data tables above. If a fee will apply, we will contact you before we proceed.
Email your data as an attachment to:
Or send a disk or CDROM with your data to:
GolfSoftware.com
Attn: Data Transfer
1143 Executive Circle, Suite i
Cary, NC 27511
Include your email address and phone number in case we need to contact you.
How Do I Export Data?
Call us at 919-460-7424 or email
transferdata@golfsoftware.com and we will be glad to offer
ideas or suggestions.
All programs are different, so we may not know the exact steps
to export data from your particular program, but most database
software can export information into a standard format such as
ASCII DELIMITED, ACCESS, EXCEL, TEXT, DBASE, etc. Look on each
menu to see if you see an Export function in your software. Or
you may be able to export a report which contains the data you
wish to transfer. Some software lets you "save" reports to disk
in a database format.
If you can't find an export option in the program you are
currently using, we may be able to read the "native" database
format. The only way to know is to see the data. In this case,
send us all the files that make up the database.
Note: We can transfer the native databases for the following
programs:
- Golf Net
- GHIN (Golf Handicap Information Network)
- SCGA (Southern California Golf Assoc.)
- Focus 2000
- Score Keeper
What Data Can I Transfer In?
Any information our program tracks can be transferred in. See
acceptable format above.
For example, minimal info you would want to transfer into the
Handicap System would be each golfer's name, gender, and last 20
scores with ratings and slopes. Of course any other items can also
be transferred such as address, phone numbers, email, etc.
What is ASCII Delimited Format?
Each data field in an ASCII delimited file is separated by a
comma, tab, space or semicolon and delimited by quotation marks.
Records are separated by a carriage return. ASCII files have a
simple format and can be viewed in any text editor.
ASCII delimited text files could have the following format:
"Field1","Field2","Field3","Field4","Field5",...etc... Record 1
"Field1","Field2","Field3","Field4","Field5",...etc... Record 2
...etc...
Example:
"John","Doe","919-460-7424","info@golfsoftware.com"
"Sam","Smith","919-460-1628","tech@golfsoftware.com"
...etc...
(*Note: Only organizations that have purchased both the Unlimited Handicap System AND Unlimited Tournament Manager software qualify for our free transfer service. If data requires significant manual manipulation to prepare it in a readable format, a transfer fee may apply.)
