Using this Help System

The examples below use the Tournament Manager Help System, but all our Help Systems work alike.

Maximize the Size of Your Help System Window

The Help System for your golf software may open in a small window in the upper left corner of your monitor screen. It may be helpful to first maximize the window by clicking on the "maximize" square icon in the top right corner of your screen. See following image:

Context Sensitive Help

Help is always a click or keystroke away. While using a program and a problem or questions arises, remember you have two ways to immediately reach help topics pertinent to the part of the program you find yourself. You can click on the icon or you can press the F1 key.

Three Ways to Find a Solution

You have entered this Help System because you are looking for a solution to a problem, an answer to a question.

There are three ways to search for the answer to your question(s) equivalent to the three tabs below, and one "bonus" method.

  1. Browse the Contents
  2. Look through the Index
  3. Search for a keyword

This image shows that you are currently in the Contents view.

Tip: The "bonus" method of finding a solution to your problem or answer to your question is to go to the part of the program where you are encountering the problem and click on the icon or pressing the F1 key. Clicking on this icon takes you to context sensitive help, or a topic related to the program context in which you find yourself.

Browse the Contents

Browsing the contents is just like looking through the table of contents in a book to find a section that might be relevant to your problem or question. What you first see in the Help System is a "collapsed" view of the Contents of the Help System. It is collapsed because where you see the icon. The "+" sign means that there is more information in that "book."

To browse the Contents...

Now you expose additional layers of information...

You can browse for topics that are relevant to your question.

Look Through the Index

The second method of finding relevant information is to look through the Index of the Help System. Click on the "Index" tab to show an image similar to the one below. Indexed terms are arranged alphabetically in the index. You can either sift through visually or type in a word related to your question. You can double click on an indexed term to bring up a page or pages relevant to the term.

Search for a Keyword

The third method of finding an answer in the Help System is to search for a keyword related to your problem or question. Click on the "Search" tab to bring up the search box. You can search for one or more words at a time. You can also search for an exact phrase such as "match play."

Search for one word

  1. Type your one word in the box, such as "teams," and hit the Enter key or click "List Topics" button. All the topics that contain the word "teams" will be listed.

  2. Look through to find the most relevant topic(s) and double click on it/them to see if your question is addressed.

  1. You will find that your search term(s) - in this case "teams" - is highlighted so you can easily locate it in the topic page.

Search for two (or more) words that appear on the same page

  1. Type your two (or more) words in the box, such as "build teams," and hit the Enter key or click "List Topics" button. All the topics that contain the words "build" and "teams" will be listed. Note that the words do not have to be in a phrase. They both just have to appear together on the page.

  2. Look through to find the most relevant topic(s) and double click on it/them to see if your question is addressed.

  1. You will find that your search terms - in this case "build" and "teams" - are highlighted so you can easily locate them in the topic page.

Search for two or more words as a phrase

  1. Type your phrase in the box, such as "build teams," with quotation marks around the phrase and hit the Enter key or click "List Topics" button. All the topics that contain the phrase "build teams" will be listed.

Note: You will notice in the above image that not only is the phrase "build teams" highlighted, but the phrase, "building teams," is also highlighted. That is because "Match similar words" was checked at the bottom left corner of the help screen. Take the check mark out if you do not want similar words in the results.
