How to Import a Text File

Question: How do I import a text file (ASCII) into Website Designer?

Answer:

Saving as Text File

Any Word processor (as well as other application types) can save a document as a Text (.txt) file.

To save your document as a text file....

  1. Load your document into Word.
  2. Select "Save As" on the File menu.
  3. On the "Save as" form, select "Plain Text (*.txt)" in the "Save as Type" drop down box.
  4. Also give the file a name, and select an appropriate directory to save the file in, then click the Save button.

The document is now saved as a text file.

To import the Text file into the Website Designer, create a blank page to import Text file to. Use one of these blank page types: Document or Spreadsheet. Which one should you use? If your text file is sentences and paragraphs, the Document page would be better. If your Text file is tab delimited data or other rows and columns of information, the Spreadsheet would be the best choice.
