Creating an Index Page with Document or Spreadsheet Page Types

There is a finite amount of room for links on the left-side navigation menu of your website. What do you do when you have more pages in your website than you have room in the navigation menu for links to each of those pages? You create what might be considered a sub-menu or an extension to the left-side menu.

The simplest Index page (a list of links on a page) can be created using the Menu List page type. With the Menu List page type, you can create an index to many other pages. The limitation is that you can have only one column of links. What if you want two or even three column of links? Then you can use the Document page type or the Spreadsheet page type.

Index Page with a Document Page Type

To create an index page using the Document page type, please read how to create such a page and how to use tables to create multiple columns of information (such as columns of links). Once you have created a document page type with multiple columns using a table, you can find out how to add links in a Document page type.

Index Page with a Spreadsheet Page Type

To create an index page using the Spreadsheet page type, please read how to create such a page. Once you have created a document page type with multiple columns using a table, you can find out how to add links in a Spreadsheet page type.

Tip: Some golf clubs will create their season schedule (League Manager) and save it for display on their website. Any Report or View that is saved for display on the website is brought into Website Designer using the "Existing" page type. The Existing page type actually uses the Spreadsheet page type to import saved Reports and Views. What this means is that you can add columns to the left of your season schedule and insert links for the results of each event next to the schedule. It makes for a very nice Index page to link to many pages of results information.
